Why Do Jehovah's Witnesses Go Door-to-Door?

According to NON-WITNESSES

JW's want to clear God's name of any derogatory falsehoods, (slander, libel, slurs, etc.), he suffers. JW's go door-to-door because they think they are doing you a favor by explaining the “truth” of their version of Christianity to you, thereby saving you.

The command is not only to “preach;” they must also hand in monthly reports detailing the hours they spent “in the field” and how many calls they made. The message at their meetings is relentless and laden with guilt and fear: keep on preaching or you, too, will die at Armageddon.

JW's go door-to-door to offer people Watch Tower magazines in order to try to get them to request a Bible study or come to a meeting.

The point of the door to door work is no longer to make disciples. It's to keep the JW busy, distracted, and preoccupied. It's a control mechanism. Nobody wants to do it. Everyone drags their feet. Most fudge their ‘time’. No one really wanted a householder to answer the door.

According to JW.ORG

Jesus told his followers to “make disciples of people of all the nations.” (Matthew 28:19, 20) When he sent out his early disciples, Jesus directed them to go to the homes of the people. (Matthew 10:7, 11-13) After Jesus’ death, first-century Christians continued to spread their message both “publicly and from house to house.” (Acts 5:42; 20:20) We follow the example of those early Christians and find that the door-to-door ministry is a good way to reach people.

According to WATCH TOWER MAGAZINE

My  thoughts are in quotes. "The typical JW hopes to Live Forever in Paradise on Earth." In the WT article below, there are four (4) REQUIREMENTS for a JW to gain Paradise Earth. REQUIREMENT #4 is going door-to-door. The Key word is REQUIREMENT (compulsory, necessity, essential, mandatory). An antonym: "VOLUNTARY."

BACK TO JW.ORG

"Contrast the above REQUIREMENT with the key words "VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION"  in the article below found at JW.ORG hereIt originally appeared in Our Kingdom Ministry--1989 pgs. 3-4."

OUR IDENTIFICATION AS JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES

As ministers of the good news, we are known publicly as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Our voluntary participation in the field service is motivated by love of God and neighbor. It is not carried on at the insistence of any man or organization but is according to our God-given commission to preach the “good news” and make disciples. Therefore, publishers do well to avoid representing themselves as agents or representatives of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., or any other corporation used by “the faithful and discreet slave” to advance Kingdom interests.

CONCLUSION

"The Watch Tower wants the world to believe (via JW.ORG) that each and every JW is going door-to-door VOLUNTARILY. But they also remind the door knockers, (via The Watchtower Magazine), that unless they are actually knocking on doors, they will not be eligible for Paradise Earth, thus making door knocking a REQUIREMENT. The "RICH REWARD OF EVERLASTING LIFE" is only possible if the individual JW is WORKING HARD, going door-to-door. The WT has obviously forgotten about Ephesians 2:8-9, "By this undeserved kindness you have been saved through faith, and this is not of your own doing; rather, it is God's gift. No, it is not a result of works, so that no one should have grounds for boasting."
