DISCLAIMER--I will, by no means, exhaustively write about each
and every error in each and every chapter of this book—that would require a
book several times the size of this WT book. I will pick out a topic or two
from each chapter to write about. Some will be a “mole hill” in the landscape
of Bible doctrine and others will be a “Mt. Everest.”
Chapter 4, “Who is Jesus Christ?,” Here the WT introduces God’s active force
(i.e. the Holy Spirit), but I am going to wait until Chapter 10, “Spirit
Creatures—How they Affect Us,” to deal with this topic. On page 41 is where the WT
took the mirror of truth and shattered it into a million pieces. If I quote
from WDTBRT, that will be in RED. “As a spirit creature
in heaven, Jesus had a special relationship with Jehovah.” The WT
teaches that Jesus, before he came to earth, was Michael the Archangel and
after he was crucified he rose again as a spirit creature—the WT does not
believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus. Hebrews 1:8 should put this notion
to rest: “For to which of the angels did He ever say, “You are my son, Today I have
begotten You”? And again, “I will be a Father to Him and He shall be a Son to
Me”?
Back to WDTBRT second paragraph second
sentence. He (Jesus) is
called “the firstborn of all creation,” for he was God’s first creation.
(Colossians 1:15)
Where
to begin??? Firstborn does not mean First Created. The Greek language, used in
most of the New Testament, is a very expressive language with words to
describe just about every nuance a word can have. There is a Greek word for
First Created (protoktizo) which was in use during Paul’s lifetime, which Paul
DID NOT use here in Colossians. So Paul did not want to say Jesus was First
Created but First Born (prototikto)—what does that mean? It can mean the first
born child in a family (Luke 2:7), but
it can also mean "pre-eminence." In Psalm 89:20, 27 it says,
"I have found David My servant; with My holy oil I have anointed him . . .
I also shall make him My first-born.” As you can see, David, who was the last
one born in his family, was called the firstborn by God. This is a title of
preeminence. You can also see this in Gen. 41:51-52.
Gen. 41:51-52,
"And Joseph called the name of the
first-born Manasseh: For, said he, God hath made me forget all my toil. And the
name of the second he called Ephraim: For God hath made me fruitful in
the land of my affliction." Now at Jer. 31:9
Ephraim is named the Firstborn," . . . for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn."
Scripture
best interprets scripture. Firstborn does not require a meaning of first
created as the Jehovah's Witnesses say it means here. "Firstborn" can
mean the first born person in a family or it can also be a title of preeminence.
WDTBRT
second paragraph third sentence, There is something
else that makes this Son special. He is the “only-begotten Son.” (John 3:16) Concerning
the term “only begotten Son” and its correct meaning see this excellent
article here. What
this article shows is that Jesus is EQUAL TO THE FATHER IN NATURE but is
SUBORDINATE TO THE FATHER IN MISSION.
The WT
also references Colossians 1:16 and says: “Jesus is
also the only one whom God used when He created all other things.” Col.
1:16 in the NWT states, “because by means of him all other things were created
in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible,
whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other
things have been created through him and for him.”
There
is just one tiny problem—the WT has changed verse 16 to match their
doctrine—they did not change their doctrine to match scripture. Look at Col.
1:16 in the KIT and you will see that the word “other” is NOT IN THE GREEK, it
has been ADDED BY THE WT. The verse in the Greek states that Jesus “created ALL
THINGS in the heavens and on the earth and ALL THINGS have been created through
him and for him.” Combine Col. 1:16 with Hebrews 3:4, “Of course, every house
is constructed by someone, but the one who constructed all things is God,” and
Revelation 4:11, “You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory
and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of
your will they existed and were created.” The Greek word for ALL THINGS in Col.
1:16-17, Heb. 3:4 and Rev. 4:11 is the
same Greek word. Could this mean that
Jesus is God? Isaiah 44:24 should seal the deal. It reads, “This is what
Jehovah says, your Repurchaser, Who formed you since you were in the womb: “I
am Jehovah, who made everything. I stretched out the heavens BY MYSELF, And I
spread out the earth. Who was with me?” (NWT) The WT would have you believe that the
Archangel Michael was with God—God drew up the blue prints for creation and
Michael (soon to be Jesus) did the work. See below Colossians 1:16-17 from the WT's' own Bible, The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures. Noticed that the left side, the original Greek side, the God breathed side states that Jesus created All Things. The WT, when translating the Greek into readable English for their NWT , has added the word "other" four times to give their followers the illusion that their Bible teaches that Jesus created "all other things" when God's Holy Word, the left side, states that Jesus created ALL THINGS, declaring that Jesus is God.

Bible Really Teach--A WT Book Chapter 4 Part 2 is here.
