A Prophet Was NOT Among Them! Part 2

As a review, "A Prophet Was NOT Among Them! Part 1" is here. The Watchtower of April 1, 1972 (pictured below) contains a question, the answer, and a challenge.

THE QUESTION . . . Today, does Jehovah have a PROPHET to warn people of dangers and to DECLARE THINGS TO COME?

THE ANSWER . . . Affirmative! This "prophet" was know as "Int'l Bible Students" but today they are called "Jehovah's Christian Witnesses."

THE CHALLENGE . . . The articles says it is easy to say you are a "prophet" of God but another thing to prove it. The only way to prove you are a "prophet" is to review the record. WHAT DOES IT SHOW?

The definitive work on this subject can be found here

This is my 2nd blog that will take up THE CHALLENGE and review the Watch Tower record. INDEED WHAT DOES IT SHOW, concerning the Watch Tower DECLARING THINGS TO COME?

Prophecy of 1914--The Destruction of Christendom and the End of Human Rulership

There is very little need for me to comment on this False Prophecy. I will let C.T. Russell, (founder and President of the Inter'l Bible Students--later renamed Jehovah's Witnesses) do the talking.

Russell wrote a series of books, "Studies in Scriptures." In that series he specifically predicted that October 1914 would be the "full end of the times of the Gentiles" and thus the "farthest limit of  the rule of imperfect men." (The Time is At Hand. Studies in the Scriptures. 2. Allegheny, PA: Tower Publishing Co. pages 76, 77). Pictured below.

Russell further states that it as "an established truth that the final end of the kingdoms of this world, and the full establishment of the Kingdom of God, will be accomplished at the end of A.D. 1914." (The Time is at Hand. Studies in Scriptures. 2 Allegheny, PA. Tower Publishing Co. page 99.) Pictured below.

Russell also wrote that 1914 would see the destruction of "what God calls Babylon, and what men call Christendom."  (Thy Kingdom Come.  Studies in Scriptures. 3 Allegheny, PA. Tower Publishing Co. pages 153.) See below.

Lastly CT, are you sure about 1914? Want to change your prediction?

"We see no reason for changing the figures—nor could we change them if we would. They are, we believe, God's dates, not ours. But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the END of the time of the trouble." Zion's Watch Tower 1894, July 15, page 226. Pictured below.

Let's go to the WT to help us identify a False Prophet. “Jehovah God is the grand identifier of his true messengers. He identifies them by making the messages he delivers through them come true. Jehovah is also the great exposer of false messengers. How does he expose them? He frustrates their signs and predictions. In this way he shows that they are self appointed prognosticators, whose messages really spring from their own false reasoning--yes, their foolish, fleshly thinking!" (The Watchtower, May 1, 1997 pg.8)

A Prophet Was Not Part 3 is here.

At this point WHAT DOES THE RECORD SHOW?
