My Wife's Testimony! Part 2

WHAT NOW? My wife's parents had left the WT and are now Born Again Christians. We decided to reach out to aunts, uncles and cousins that were JWs. However, they were a 3 hour drive from our home and so we started to correspond with a number of them. After a few months of intense letter writing, only one aunt was willing to engage us in a discussion about WT Doctrine and she eventually stopped responding to our letters.

NOW WHAT? We decided to reach out to every JW that my wife knew. In her time as a Witness, she had attended two different Kingdom Halls and each KH was home to three different WT congregations. As a result, she was familiar with a large number of JW families. She began to write down all the names she could remember (her parents also helped in compiling this list.) This was before computers were common so we got a phone book and started looking up addresses. Then with a detailed map of our city, we marked where each family was located. We then decided to visit 3+ families each day until all had been contacted in person. Just as we were ready to set out on our first "house call", my wife realized that she could not go with me. She was labeled by the WT Organization as an "APOSTATE", and a good JW would not open their door to her. So, I ventured out solo and quickly found out that JWs want to talk to you at YOUR DOOR, but they do not want to talk to you at THEIR DOOR.

WHAT NOW? In our research about JW Doctrine, we had come across an organization, Witness, Inc. They had a nation-wide string of Born Again XJWs who had a 2nd phone line dedicated to playing messages to JWs and sending out literature on WT doctrine compared to what the Bible really taught for anyone interested. We joined this group, and for 4 years, sent out tons of literature and engaged many JWs in conversations comparing WT doctrine with the Bible. However, as phone line prices, newspaper advertising prices and printing prices increased, and my salary as a teacher did not, we had to abandon this form of out reach.

NOW WHAT? At this time our son was using Craig's List to purchase some collectable items. He said that we could advertise our Testimonies in cities across the US. So, we began to use CL to see who would be interested in reading our Testimonies and receiving some literature about the JWs. For years, our ad ("Knocked on Doors for 15 Years as a JW. Now a Christian. Request our Testimonies" or something similar appeared in CL, in major cities across the country. But slowly, over time, our ads were being "Ghosted" by CL. At the present time our ad only shows consistently in Spokane, WA.

WHAT NOW? Our son, at this time, was reading a number of Christian Blogs and suggested we start a Blog and have Postings on a variety of topics related to the JWs. I had no idea how the Blog Thing worked, so my son (Shawn) set our Blog up and used his computer to record approximately six blogs that I wrote and he typed. This was November 8, 2009. By then I was familiar with how the whole "Blog Thing" worked and started Posting on my own as JohnBoy.

NOW WHAT? My wife had made a YouTube Channel and on it was our Grandson's Pre-School graduation, where he recited the 23rd Psalm. This was May 23, 2013. I was working on a blog about "Have JWs Changed the Bible to Fit Their Beliefs?" and thought I could take that information and turn it into a Power Point presentation and then post it on her Channel. It worked. This was May 26, 2020, our first Video was up.
