Have Jehovah’s Witnesses Changed the Bible to Fit Their Beliefs? Part 3

The article quoted in my title is here at JW.ORG. JW speak is in BLUE.

Two questions in the WT article, are asked and answered. Question #1, “Have Jehovah’s Witnesses Changed the Bible to Fit their Beliefs?” had three (3) Examples. In Part 1 here, I looked at Example #1. In Part 2 here, I looked at Example #2 and in this blog I will look at Example #3.

WT Example #3What we believe: God’s Kingdom is a real government, not just a condition of the heart.

The WT goes on to say, Regarding God’s Kingdom, the December 1881 issue of Zion’s Watch Tower said: “The setting up of this kingdom will, of course, involve the overthrow of all the kingdoms of earth.”

The WT has done an excellent job in putting up a "smoke screen" to hide the fact that during this time, the 1880's, they prophesied that the overthrow of all kingdoms of the earth would take place by 1878. The WT said the following concerning God's Kingdom. Jesus' presence had begun in 1874 and the "little flock" (the 144,000 - at this time all were part of the 144,000) was being gathered together. This "gathering" was a precursor to the grand climax which was already in progress. The WT further stated that the harvest would extend only to 1878, at which time the gathered saints would change into spirit form. That year, 1878, would also bring the beginning of God's kingdom exercising control over the earth. The above information can be found in Three Worlds and the Harvest of the World. Download a copy here, then see pages 68, 89-93, 124-126 and 143.

When none of the above occurred, Russell stated, “we naturally and not unreasonably expected some change of our condition, and all were more or less disappointed when nothing supernatural occurred.” ("Cast Not Away Therefore Your Confidence," Zion's Watch Tower, Feb. 1881, page 4.) See below

Russell predicted a number of things would occur but NOTHING DID. What does the WT have to say about identifying a False Prophet? "To know whether one is a true or a false prophet. If he is a true prophet, his message will come to pass EXACTLY as prophesied. If he is a false prophet, his prophecy will fail to come to pass" (The Watchtower, 15 May 1930, p. 154.) See below.

This smoke screen only works when the ones being smoked do not take the time to diligently seek the truth. (See my blog:  "What Character Flaw Do ALL JW's Have In Common?" here).
