Why was it necessary to ask the question in the title? Because JW's actually believe that Apostates take WT documents, Photoshop them, then change the text to put the WT in a bad light. Are there some disgruntled former JW's who would do such a thing--Probably. BUT I DO NOT. The WT uses the action of a small minority to discredit anyone using WT material and talking to JW's.
I was recently reading an article in the November 1999 Kingdom Ministry: Internet Use entitled "USE OF THE INTERNET - BE ALERT TO DANGERS"
After reading this article, it is apparent that the WT resembles a homeowner who displays a sign that reads, "Beware of Dog," only the WT is crying "Beware of Apostates." The homeowner's dog is lurking behind a fence but the WT's Apostates are lurking all over the internet with the goal of confounding and confusing JW's, so much so, that they will leave the WTBTS.
According to the article apostates are lurking: (1) In sites where people share experiences and comments about WT beliefs. These may be a cover for spreading Apostate reasoning. (2) At sites that offer chat rooms but can you tell for certain that these contacts have not been planted by Apostates? (3) At some Web sites that are clearly vehicles for Apostate propaganda and individuals have disowned the truth because they believed information provided by Apostates. (4) At Web sites that say they preach the Good News but may be sponsored by Apostates who wish to lure unsuspecting ones.
The article is summed up in the following: "There is no need for any individual to prepare Internet pages about JW's, our activities, or our beliefs. Our official site presents accurate information for any who want it."
The "Beware of Apostates" mentality is a dominate theme in JW thinking as I found out when I talked with two JW's at a Wal-Mart on the subject,"The WT is a False Prophet." JW speak is in BLUE.
JW: "The WT never claimed to be a Prophet of God."
ME: "They said exactly that in The Watchtower of April 1, 1972. I have a copy of page 1 of that WT in my car and would be glad to get and give it to you."
JW:"Apostates are taking WT material, Photoshopping it, then changing what was said, to put the WT in bad light. I don't wish to argue, have a good day."
How to find material at JW.ORG
1. You or the JW will need a smart phone that can connect to the internet.
The JW could hardly say that his own organization would harbor Apostate material.

How to find material at JW.ORG
1. You or the JW will need a smart phone that can connect to the internet.
2. Go to JW.ORG
3. Click on "Publications"
4. Click on "Online Library"
5. Click on "Search"
5. Click on "Search"
5. In the search area, exactly type a key phrase from
the title, page, article, etc. that you are looking for. In the case above I would
type: "They shall know that a prophet was among them". This is the title
of the 1972 article. Start and end with Quotation Marks. If you do not get the expected results, try different phrases from the article.
6. If it is in the WT Library, it should appear below your search. The April 1, 1972 article can be found at JW.ORG here.

Here is photo copy of the April 1, 1972 WT. Compare this one with the copy at JW.ORG (which is here) and you will see they are identical--except the WT copy has eliminated all photos and art work.
