JW’s believe God is the author of Watchtower publications.

Following is a conversation I had with a JW via email. It started with a Craig's List ad that read:

Has the Watchtower split your family? Our family was torn apart by the Jehovah’s Witnesses when we asked the elders a question and then questioned their answer. We have been shunned for the past 30+ years. E-mail us for more information.

I received the following reply 1 day after the CL ad, obviously from a JW:

"Do you ENJOY being an apostate?? Being an enemy of god must be really cool...Grow up"

In my 1st email I asked: "Is God the author of the Watchtower?"

The JW replied 1 day later: "haha see... if you had truly been "a witness" for all those years. Then you would know, that yes, He is. The information contained in the publications Come from God. As did the bible. You DO beleive in the bible do you not? Cause God didnt actually sit down and pen the information contained in the bible, yet he is the Author. He used imperfect men as his channel, but the information came from him. Same for today."

In my 2nd email I said: "I absolutely believe in the Bible. For example, I believe in 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,"

"I also believe in Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man that he should tell lies,” and Proverbs 6:16-19 showing that God hates a “false tongue.”Therefore, I would not expect the Bible to contain lies, untruths, falsehoods, etc."

"The WT states (as you affirmed), "The Watchtower is a magazine without equal on earth because God is the author." (Watchtower 4/15/43)

"God uses The Watchtower to communicate to his people; it does not consist of men's opinions." (Watchtower 1/1/1942, page 5)

"Since the same God authored the Bible and the WT, I would expect the WT to be devoid of lies, untruths, falsehoods, etc. just as the Bible."

I asked: “Is the WT devoid of lies, untruths and falsehoods?”

The JW replied 1 day later: "Absolutely."

In my 3rd email I asked: "Is this a lie, an untruth, a falsehood or is it in fact true?"

“the ‘ Battle of the Great Day of God Almighty’ (Rev. 16:14), which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth’s present rulership, is already commenced.” The Time is at Hand, 1908, p. 101.

"How about this—a lie, an untruth, a falsehood or the truth?" “Vaccination has never saved a human life. It does not prevent smallpox.” The Golden Age, Feb. 4, 1931, p. 294.

"Some actual good advice from the Watchtower. "What will guide us in choosing the right religion? The Encyclopoedia Universalis is correct when it highlights the importance of truth. A religion that teaches lies cannot be true" (Watchtower, 1 December 1991, p. 7).

Fourteen days went by and no reply so I asked another question.

In this my 4th email I first said: "You said the same God that authored the Bible also authored the WT. You also said, “Absolutely,” one can expect the WT to be devoid of lies, untruths, falsehoods, etc. just like the Bible."

I then said: "The Watchtower said, "FOR OVER A CENTURY, delightful, CORRECT words of TRUTH covering every aspect of life have been presented in the Watctower Society's publications." (Watchtower, Dec. 15, 1990)"

I asked: "Is the following a lie, an untruth, a falsehood or is it in fact true?"

“It has never been proven that a single disease is due to germs.” The Golden Age (now known as Awake!), Jan. 16, 1924, p. 250.

I also asked: "Is the following a lie, an untruth, a falsehood or is it in fact true?

"Man on earth can no more get rid of these demonic `heavens' than man can by airplane or rockets or other means get up above the air envelope which is about our earthly globe and in which man breathes." (The Truth Shall Make You Free, p. 285).

Another 14 days went by and no reply so I asked another question.

I first said: "The Watchtower is a magazine without equal on earth because God is the author." (Watchtower 4/15/43)

"God uses The Watchtower to communicate to his people; it does not consist of men's opinions." - Watchtower 1/1/1942, page 5

"Those who are convinced that The Watchtower is publishing the opinion or expression of a man should not waste time in looking at it at all, (Watchtower, Jan. 1, 1942, p. 5)

Question #1: Is the following a lie, an untruth, a falsehood or is it in fact true?
"Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly those named by the Apostle in Hebrews 11, to the condition of human perfection." Millions Now Living Will Never Die, page 89.

"Jehovah, the God of the true prophets, will put ALL false prophets to shame either by not fulfilling the false prediction of such self-assuming prophets or by having His own prophecies fulfilled in a way opposite to that predicted by the false prophets. False prophets will try to hide their reason for feeling shame by denying who they really are." Paradise Restored to Mankind ByTheocracy, 1972, Pages 353- 354.

I have yet to hear a response.
