DISCLAIMER--I
will, by no means, exhaustively write about each and every error in each and
every chapter of this book—that would require a book several times the size of
this WT book. I will pick out a topic or two from each chapter to write about.
Some will be a “mole hill” in the landscape of Bible doctrine and others will
be a “Mt. Everest.”
Chapter 11, “Why Does God Allow Suffering?” did not raise any major red flags. I made this same comment on Chapter 2 which is here.
Chapter 12, “Living in a Way that Pleases God.” I zeroed in on the chart from page 122, “Shun What Jehovah Hates.” What caught my attention was not what was on the list but what was NOT ON the list. As to be expected, the WT has left off a couple of things that Jehovah really hates.
(1) God hates False Prophets. In fact in Deut. 18:20-22 God states that false prophets should be stoned to death. That is hatred. I have already talked about the WT as a False Prophet in Chapter 7 Part 1 here and Chapter 7 Part 2 here.
(2) God hates anyone who would change his Holy Word. What happens if you add to the Bible—Rev. 22:18, “I am bearing witness to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll.” That means painful sores, water becoming undrinkable and the sun scorching people—to name a few. That is hatred.
Here are a couple of instances where the WT has added to God’s word (these can be seen by using the KIT, purple cover.)

Colossians 1:15-17. Here the WT has added the word “other”
four times. This makes Jesus a created being. Without the word “other” he is
the Creator of all things. I talked at length about this in Chapter 4 part 1 here. Below is Colossians 1:16-17 from the KIT.
Acts 20:28
– “Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy
Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased
with His own blood.”
What did that say? God purchased the church with His own blood. But wasn’t it Jesus whose blood was shed for the sins of the world? That would make Jesus, God. Totally contrary to WT doctrine! Not a problem—the WT just changes the verse to read:
Acts 20:28 – “Pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, to shepherd the congregation of God, which he purchased with the blood of his own [Son].” New World Translation
If a Witness asks about this change what answer will they get? JW’s are allowed to ask only powder-puff questions (ones that are easily answered). If questions challenge WT doctrine, the asking Witness will be reminded to:
“Avoid independent thinking . . . questioning the counsel that is provided by God’s visible organization (WTBTS).” The Watchtower, January 15, 1983, p. 22.
Part 2 is here.
