WHAT DOES THE BIBLE Really TEACH? A WT book—Chapter 4 Part 2 "Who is Jesus Christ"

DISCLAIMER--I will, by no means, exhaustively write about each and every error in each and every chapter of this book—that would require a book several times the size of this WT book. I will pick out a topic or two from each chapter to write about. Some will be a “mole hill” in the landscape of Bible doctrine and others will be a “Mt. Everest.”

Chapter 4, “Who is Jesus Christ?,” on page 42, top paragraph the WT makes this statement that I just had to respond to: Jehovah alone is “God Almighty.” (Genesis 17:1) Therefore, he has no equal.

I am going to Revelation in the New World Translation (NWT) and follow the Word “Almighty” and several other titles tied to Almighty. Rev. 1:8, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, says Jehovah God, “the one who is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty.” Problem #1 for the WT is the word Jehovah doesn’t appear in the original Greek (See the KIT). The WT’s rule for inserting the word Jehovah is this: the translator determines if the Christian writer has quoted an OT verse. If he has quoted from the OT and the name Jehovah is in the OT, then the WT will substitute Jehovah for Lord or God in the NT (page 18 KIT Purple Cover). The key word to look for in the OT is “the Alpha and the Omega”—Problem #2 for the WT is that “the Alpha and the Omega” only occurs three times in the Bible—all in Revelation. So the WT has violated its own rule for inserting Jehovah in the NT BECAUSE as we shall see “the Alpha and the Omega” is a reference to Jesus and this verse states that He is Almighty—and the WT states in the WDTBRT page 42, “Jehovah alone is “God Almighty,” thus the WT needs to make any reference to the Almighty a reference to Jehovah—even if they have to violate their own rules.

The 2nd reference to “the Alpha and the Omega” is Revelation 21:6, “And he said to me: “They have come to pass! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To anyone thirsting I will give from the fountain of the water of life free.” The term “beginning and the end” also occurs in Rev. 22:12-13 and imagine that—the 3rd occurrence of “the Alpha and the Omega” is also in this verse. It reads: “’Look! I am coming quickly, and the reward I give is with me, to render to each one as his work is. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

Where else does “the first and the last” occur? Revelation 1:17-18, “And when I saw him, I fell as dead at his feet. And he laid his right hand upon me and said: “Do not be fearful. I am the First and the Last, and the living one and I became dead, but look! I am living forever and ever and I have the keys of death and of Hades.” WHO WAS LIVING THEN BECAME DEAD AND NOW LIVES FOREVER? Could that be Jesus?

Remember “the Alpha and the Omega” occurs three times—all in Revelation. The first at Rev. 1:8 where the Alpha and the Omega is COMING. The third occurrence is at Rev. 22:12 has the Alpha and the Omega COMING QUICKLY. Who is coming quickly? It sure is nice that John answers this question for us at Rev. 22:20, “He that bears witness of these things says, ‘Yes I am coming quickly.” “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus.”

John again helps us with who is coming in Rev. 1:7-8, “Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and those who pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief because of him. Yes, Amen. I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says Jehovah God, “the One who is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty.” John in verse 7 tells us “He is coming” and those who pierced him (the one coming) will see him (the one coming). Now, who was pierced—Could that be Jesus? In verse 8 John further describes the one coming, (the one pierced)—he is the Alpha and the Omega, the Almighty. I Thank You John (via the Holy Spirit). As mentioned above they have to insert the word Jehovah in verse 8 because their doctrine cannot allow Jesus to be Almighty.

Lastly, the WT has given us conclusive evidence that Jesus IS “the Alpha and the Omega.” Look in the NWT at Rev. 22:12. Note the quotation marks at the start of verse 12. Someone is talking in verses 12, 13, 14 and 15. Whoever is talking identifies themselves as the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. Note that at the end of verse 15 there is NO ENDING QUOTATION MARK. But there is a beginning quotation mark at verse 16, which means the same speaker in verses 12-15 continues to speak in verse 16. (Look throughout the NWT and this is exactly how the WT treats quotations that go through several verses.) And who is speaking—verse 16 starts, “I Jesus.” I rest my case. On to WDTBRT Chapter 5.
